Incoming phone calls are immediately forwarded to voicemail when the iDivert key is used. The iDivert softkey option is similar to the Ignore key found on Windows Mobile and other popular cell phones. The calling party will probably know that their call has been forwarded to voicemail too soon if the iDivert key is used.
iDivert functionality is not enabled by default. A new softkey template must be configured to enable iDivert functionality. To access the Softkey template configuration, choose Device > Device Settings > Softkey Template from Call Manager administration. Click the Find button and select the Standard User softkey template. Click the Copy button and Name the softkey template to iDivert Template. Click Save. Choose Configure Softkey Layout from the Related Links drop down menu and click the Go button next to the menu.
The On Hook call state will be selected by default. Investigate the softkeys available in the Unselected Softkeys section. There are many features that are not enabled in the Standard User default softkey template. Each call state can accommodate up to 16 softkeys. Choose the iDivert option from the Unselected Softkeys and click the greater than symbol (>) to move the option to the Selected Softkeys. Softkey positions can moved by moving options up or down in the Selected Softkeys. Click Save. Choose the Connected option from the Select a call state to configure drop down menu. Move the iDivert option from Unselected to Selected. Click Save. The iDivert option can be enabled in the following call states:
On Hook
Connected
On Hold
Ring In
The iDivert option is not available in the following call states:
Off Hook
Connected Transfer
Digits After First
Connected Conference
Ring Out
Off Hook with Feature
Remote In Use
Connected No Feature
The new softkey template will now need to be applied to any phone that will use the iDivert feature. The Configure Softkey Configuration screen has a Default Softkey Template check box where the softkey can be applied to all existing phones in the system.
The next blog will start a Softkey Template series in which all of the softkey phone features will be discussed.
